A Midwestern construction trade group gave up on its First Amendment lawsuit challenging Minneapolis Public School District’s policy of only using construction contractors that hire unionized workers and contribute to union benefit funds.
But the Associated Builders and Contractors’ Minnesota/North Dakota Chapter declined Aug. 14 to say why it dropped its legal claims against the school district’s union-only project labor agreements. PLAs are pre-hire deals that set the terms and conditions of employment.
“We’re not commenting on our specific reasons,” said Adam Hanson, a spokesman for the trade group. “We’re not comfortable sharing them at this time.”
