California Union Says It’s ‘Singled Out’ Under RTO Mandate

One of the few unions subject to California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s return-to-office executive order alleges it’s being “singled out” and “retaliated” against for not re-opening its labor contract in exchange for concessions.

Newsom’s four-day in-office mandate went into effect on Tuesday, but “nearly all” of the 100,000 state workers initially thought to be subject to it are now exempt through a series of deals made over the past week to delay RTO until July 2026.
