Avon Biased Against Pregnant, Pumping Moms, Class Suit Says

Avon is facing a proposed class action by two former employees who say the cosmetics company systemically discriminates against expecting and new mothers who need to pump milk for their infants.

One of the plaintiffs, Caroline Ruiz, filed a single-plaintiff action in October. She said then that Avon fired her after she requested telecommuting accommodations for her high-risk pregnancy and doctor-ordered bedrest.

The Nov. 13 amended complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York adds a second named plaintiff to the suit, Olivera Krstanoska. It says the two women want to represent a class ...
