Knight Transportation Defeats Some Claims in Trucker Wage Case

Knight Transportation Inc. is free of some claims in a wage-and-hour suit alleging it stiffed more than 500 truckers on wages, after a federal judge in Washington state gave the company a partial early win.

Commercial truck drivers accuse the transportation firm and two subsidiaries of failing to properly pay them for rest breaks, attending orientation programming, overtime, and most or all non-driving work. Knight is entitled to summary judgment on the rest break, overtime, and non-driving work claims, but some other class claims can move forward, the US District Court for the Western District of Washington said.
