Washington Truckers Win Class Status in Wage, Break Suit

Knight Transportation Inc. must face a certified a class of more than 500 truckers alleging state wage and hour violations, even though the Washington Supreme Court already said that one of their claims isn’t viable.

The state high court ruled in 2019 that the truckers, who are paid on a mileage-based “piece rate” basis, aren’t entitled to extra hourly pay for time spent on nonpiece-rate duties, like filling out paperwork, weighing loads, and other nondriving work.
