Crypto Wallet Provider Ledger, Shopify Face Suit Over Data Breach

Users of Ledger, which provides a hardware wallet for cryptocurrency holdings, are suing over a 2020 data breach that exposed the company’s customer list.

The proposed class action lawsuit, filed Tuesday in a California federal court, faults Ledger SAS and its e-commerce vendor, Shopify Inc., for lax security practices and a failure to disclose the breach until after the customer list was publicly posted. The suit was brought under state consumer protection laws.
