Sen. John Cornyn would target government spending, taxation, and regulations should he be elected the Senate Republicans’ next leader, the Texan wrote in a letter to colleagues on Monday.
“Planning is hard because the future is unpredictable,” he wrote, according to text obtained by Bloomberg Government. “Still, with the election rapidly approaching, it is only prudent to think broadly and boldly about our goals.”
Cornyn also said Republicans should “reject all attempts” to abolish the filibuster, or 60-vote threshold, on most legislation — a goal of many Senate Democrats — and prioritize the confirmation of Donald Trump’s judicial nominees ...
