DOJ Says Concert Ticket Industry ‘Broken’
“The concert ticket industry is broken,” DOJ lawyer David Dahlquist told jurors at the start of the Live Nation trial. DOJ and dozens of states have accused the company of illegally monopolizing the market for live music.
Dahlquist said the company controls 86% of the market for ticketing services to what he calls “major concert venues,” and about 78% of the market for large amphitheaters. He told the jury that Live Nation has the highest concert ticket fees in the world, Josh Sisco, Ashley Carman and Mikella Schuettler report.
