Wheeling University Alumna Ends Eckert Seamans Data Breach Suit

Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott LLC no longer faces a proposed class action from a Wheeling University alumna who said the law firm allowed a cyberattack to breach her personal data.

Lara Williams’ complaint in the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania said that Eckert Seamans held itself out as having expertise in privacy and data protection, and yet failed to protect the personal information of approximately 9,400 Wheeling University alumni.
