- The new Manhattan headquarters of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan are stunning, with partially frosted glass walls, high-tech conference rooms, open-plan meeting spaces, and big central staircase. The firm’s goal is to make working on site as appealing as possible without mandating a return to the office. (Fast Company)
- A first-of-its-kind initiative at New York City’s Touro University aims to train future lawyers on using legal tools and education to combat antisemitism. The Jewish university opened its first antisemitism legal course and in the spring semester will launch its first legal clinic on the topic. (The Times of Israel)
- Holland & Knight’s year-end bonuses match those of the most generous firms, with a tiered structure that’s more generous for associates in major markets. The firm will also award additional money to associates whose performance was “exceptional.” (Above the Law)
Laterals, Moves, In-House
- David Ashner was promoted to principal and Rina Fujii to of counsel at Groom. Scott Mayland, who specializes in fiduciary and plan governance matters, was also named as principal.
- Stuart Hoegner, general counsel for Tether and Bitfinex has retired. Michael Hilliard will replace him.
- David Heeren joined Ward and Smith’s tax practice in North Carolina. Christina Cress also joined as head of the firm’s energy and utilities practice.
- David Jutzi and Lee Sauer joined Miller Thomson as associate counsel in its corporate mergers and acquisitions and private client services practices in the Waterloo Region.
