- The Harris-Walz campaign has hired former Sidley Austin associate and Department of Homeland Security official Brenda Abdelall to lead outreach to Arab American voters, who hold sway in key swing states like Michigan. The campaign had previously tapped former Boies Schiller Flexner counsel and White House official Nasrina Bargzie to lead outreach to Muslim American voters. (Reuters)
- Mary Ann Miranda, a lawyer in Lexington, Ky., was placed on a 181-day license suspension and two years probation in 2023 due to misconduct while representing a client suing the University of Kentucky. Today she’s being paid a $150,000 salary as associate general counsel for the university. (Lexington Herald-Leader)
- East Coast law firms are boosting the campaign cash of two Democratic candidates running for statewide offices in Oregon. Firms such as Saxena White, Labaton Keller Sucharow, and Grant & Eisenhofer have given more than $170,000 to Dan Rayfield, the Democratic nominee for attorney general, and over $40,000 to Elizabeth Steiner, the Democratic nominee for treasurer.
