- The European Commission could be undermining its work by allowing departing officials to jump to law firms that help the companies the officials used to police, a regional officials says. Emily O’Reilly, the European Union’s ombudsman, called out Paul Weiss for its touted hire of antitrust partner Henrik Morch, alleging that the “corrosive effect of the ‘revolving door’ phenomenon” can have a negative impact on public trust. - Four Latham & Watkins restructuring and equity capital markets partners in Germany are jumping to rivals such as Willkie Farr & Gallagher and White & Case. Though some “major” US and UK law firms have found Germany to be a tough market, with many companies “balking” at high legal fees, Willkie has been on an expansion push there in recent months, including opening a new office in Munich. - An Indiana University Maurer School of Law dean says the school has had its largest number of graduates in recent years, with a bigger percentage of students—more than 70%—who have jobs “already lined up” by graduation. The growing shortage of lawyers in Indiana may have helped with job placement, officials said. (Indiana Lawyer)
