Wake Up Call: Bard College Taps WilmerHale to Probe Epstein Ties

  • Bard College retained WilmerHale to conduct an independent investigation into communications between Jeffrey Epstein and the college’s longtime president Leon Botstein. Once complete, the college said the firm would also make recommendations to the board of trustees regarding policies and practices on donor vetting, fundraising, codes of conduct, and conflicts of interest.   • A Thai court sentenced jailed activist lawyer Arnon Nampa to an additional two years and eight months in prison for insulting the monarchy at a rally in November 2020, bringing his combined sentence to more than 30 years. Arnon has been in prison since September 2023 for violating the royal insult law stemming from his speeches at political rallies and social media posts between 2020 and 2021. (Reuters)
  • Victoria’s Secret billionaire Les Wexner was scolded by his attorney for speaking too much while lawmakers questioned him about his entanglement with Jeffrey Epstein. During a Congressional hearing, Michael Levy told Wexner that he would “kill you if you answer another question with more than five words.” (The Daily Beast)
