Wake Up Call: Lawyers Say Israel Has Right to ‘Pursue Justice’

  • About 400 attorneys from more than two dozen Big Law firms signed a letter released Thursday that supports Israel’s right to defend itself in the wake of the attack from the group Hamas. The signers, who included lawyers from Cooley, Kirkland & Ellis, and Cleary Gottlieb, said they “affirm that Israel has the undeniable right and obligation to pursue justice against those who harm it and murder its citizens.” (Business Wire)
  • A Florida Bar committee is weighing a proposed advisory opinion that will address whether licensed lawyers in the state need to obtain a client’s informed consent to use generative AI in their representation. The Board Review Committee on Professional Ethics will consider the opinion at a Nov. 30 meeting. (The Florida Bar)
  • UK firms Mishcon de Reya and Trowers & Hamlins have made cuts of more than 35 employees between them. Nearly 25 Trowers lawyers were “made redundant,” including five real estate partners, and Mishcon laid off its 11-member software solutions team. (Law.com)
  • A White & Case lawyer was arrested last Saturday after leaving a 7-year-old girl and her 3-year-old sister alone at a beach for 30 minutes or longer. Patricia Bronson is a conflicts attorney with the firm in Tampa, Florida, where one of the firm’s operations centers is located, according to her LinkedIn page. (Above the Law)
