Sam’s Club Sued Over Breach Linked to Cleo File-Transfer System

Walmart Inc. subsidiary Sam’s Club negligently failed to protect the personal information of thousands of customers and employees that was exposed in a data breach linked to a vulnerability in Cleo Communications US LLC’s file-transfer system, a proposed federal class action said.

Sam’s Club is the latest in a growing list of Cleo clients to face litigation over the breaches of the Cleo file-transfer system, which was first disclosed in February. Other defendants include Hertz Corp., W.K. Kellogg Co., and DXC Technology Services LLC.

Cleo is facing at least 22 proposed federal class actions over the breach. ...
