Hertz Sued Over Breach of Cleo Communications File-Transfer Tool

Hertz Global Holdings Inc. is facing two class action lawsuits in federal court over a data breach linked to a vulnerability in a file-transfer system provided to the car-rental company by Cleo Communications Inc..

Lead plaintiffs Joshua Jonte and Muneerah Crawford alleged in separate suits that Hertz breached its duties under common law, contract law, industry standards, and the Federal Trade Commission Act to implement reasonable and adequate data-security measures and provide timely notice of the incident.
