Michigan Governor Signs Climate Laws Setting Clean Energy Goals

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed into law a clean energy package that puts the state on track to decarbonize its electricity generation by 2040, following through on plans outlined in her fall legislative agenda and last year’s climate road map.

The handful of bills signed on Tuesday streamlines renewable energy project siting, puts more attention on environmental justice concerns, and creates a new state office to help workers transition into clean energy jobs.
