Michael Russell has rejoined Silicon Valley stalwart Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati to co-lead the mergers and acquisitions practice after a five-year stint with Goodwin Procter.
Russell has more than two decades of experience representing clients in corporate and securities transactions, including divestitures, joint ventures, and public and private equity and debt offerings. His Goodwin M&A and technology experience includes buy-side representations of Fitbit, Lyft, and Slack.
“Mike has earned a reputation as a versatile and collaborative deal lawyer,” said Wilson Sonsini managing partner Doug Clark in a statement.
M&A activity bounced back in the latter half of 2020, after a slowdown in the first half of the year because of the pandemic. The bolstered activity was strengthened by deals in the tech and life sciences sectors.
Longtime partner Robert Ishii will co-lead M&A with Russell, who is based in the firm’s Palo Alto and San Francisco offices.
