IBM’s New Law Leader Got Almost $10 Million to Leave Vanguard

International Business Machines Corp. recruited its chief legal officer Anne Robinson last year with a pay package valued at $9.9 million.

IBM disclosed in a proxy statement late Monday that Robinson received a $750,000 cash signing bonus when it hired her a year ago to succeed Michelle Browdy, who retired. Robinson joined IBM from Vanguard Group Inc., where she was the investment management company’s first Black executive.

Robinson received more than $7.9 million in stock and option awards from IBM and almost $1.2 million in additional cash, including $467,500 in base salary for the six months she worked ...
