IBM Hires Vanguard’s Top Lawyer to Replace Retiring Law Head (1)

International Business Machines Corp., which has been targeted by a conservative activist over its diversity-focused workforce practices, has hired a longtime supporter of inclusion efforts to be its new chief legal officer.

Anne Robinson, who in 2016 became the first Black executive hired at The Vanguard Group Inc., will leave her role as managing director, general counsel, and corporate secretary for the Malvern, Pa.-based investment adviser to join IBM as of July 1, the technology company announced Thursday.
