Gilead Taps Ex-Winston Partner to Replace Exiting Top Lawyer (1)

Gilead Sciences Inc. announced Tuesday that Deborah Telman will become its new executive vice president of corporate affairs and general counsel as of Aug. 1.

Telman will take over from Gilead’s longtime legal chief Brett Pletcher, who is set to retire after more than 17 years with the company. She’s a former Winston & Strawn partner who spent the past two years as general counsel for Organon & Co., a Jersey City, N.J.-based company spun off in 2021 by global drug giant Merck & Co.

Gilead, like many biopharmaceutical companies, faces an array of patent infringement and medication-related litigation challenges. ...
