In both the House’s and Senate’s 2025 drafts of the Faster Labor Contracts Act, a statistic that I published back in 2022 receives prominent mention. It’s the average number of days it takes for a new union to get its first contract—which, at the time, was 465.
Now that the House’s bill has been passed, and as the Senate weighs its options, this seems like a good time to update that average.
