ANALYSIS: North American Companies to Break M&A Records in 2026

After a cautious start to 2025, the M&A market took off in the third quarter. Quarterly deal volumes for global mergers and acquisitions hit heights at the end of Q3 ($1.33 trillion) not seen since Q4 2021 ($1.39 trillion).

Moreover, Q3 2025 deal volumes for target companies located in North America ($822.26 billion) exceeded all other quarterly volumes in the last 10 years, beating Q2 2021’s mark ($703.05 billion) from that record-breaking year by more than $100 billion.
