Bankrupt NHL star Evander Kane is fraudulently trying to keep $600,000 in home equity on his multimillion-dollar California residence from his creditors, two banks allege.
The San Jose Sharks left winger allegedly siphoned $600,000 from two properties in Canada and funneled it to a shell company in Florida to buy the home. He then transferred the title to himself on the eve of his Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing in January, Zions Bancorporation NA said in an objection filed Thursday.
Professional Bank, also a creditor, lodged a similar objection the same day.
