San Jose Sharks left winger Evander Kane filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in California, listing about $27 million in debt and $10 million in assets.
Kane, who’s set to earn $3 million this season, may opt out of playing due to health concerns, “given the recent birth of his first child,” the 29-year-old NHL star said in court papers. Kane is entering the third year of a seven-year, $49 million contract.
