Trump’s CFPB Opposes Debt Collector’s Bid to Undo 2023 Order (1)

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is opposing debt collector PRA Group Inc.'s bid to terminate a 2023 consent judgment against the company, telling a federal judge that collection violations remain a priority for the agency even as the Trump administration rolls back other enforcement efforts.

PRA has a “long history of non-compliance” with consumer protection laws and agency orders, the CFPB said in a filing in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, arguing the debt collector hadn’t met its burden to end or alter the court’s previous order.
