The Association of American Medical Colleges was hit with a lawsuit alleging it conspired to charge inflated application fees to aspiring doctors.
The AAMC “illegally maintains a monopoly in the market for medical school application platforms and uses the millions in annual overcharges to kickback money to member medical schools,” according to a proposed class action filed Monday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
The case mirrors similar claims filed Monday against the body that coordinates law school admissions. Organizations that oversee higher education credentials have become a growing target for private antitrust lawsuits.
