Live Nation, Ticketmaster Fail to Escape Taylor Swift Fans’ Suit

Nov. 25, 2025, 3:22 PM UTC

Live Nation Entertainment Inc. and its Ticketmaster LLC unit will face antitrust claims brought by a group of Taylor Swift fans who accused the company of monopolizing the primary concert ticketing market.

Judge George H. Wu of the US District Court for the Central District of California allowed the Swift fans’ monopolization claims to move forward while tossing their fraud and negligence claims.

The ruling, entered Monday, comes after Wu gave the plaintiffs several chances to amend their complaint, which arose from claims they were victims of the concert ticket sale debacle for Swift’s “The Eras” tour due to the company’s unlawful conduct.

The Swift fan plaintiffs filed their fourth amended complaint in July, drawing heavily from claims in a pending suit brought against the merged company by the Department of Justice.

The Swift fans claim that Live Nation and Ticketmaster entered into exclusive agreements with venues to protect and expand their chokehold on the live concert industry and on primary ticketing in particular.

The plaintiffs are represented by Kinder Law PLLC. Ticketmaster and Live Nation are represented by Latham & Watkins LLP.

The case is Julie Barfuss v. Live Nation Entertainment, C.D. Cal., No. 2:23-cv-01114, entered 11/24/25.
