Invisalign Maker Wins First Approval of $31.8 Million Court Deal

Align Technology Inc. won preliminary approval of a $31.75 million deal to settle claims it colluded to raise the prices of its popular Invisalign teeth-straightening products.

Judge Vince Chhabria of the US District Court for the Northern District of California in a Wednesday order said the deal “appears to be the product of good faith, arms’-length negotiations” and is likely to receive final approval after a yet-unscheduled settlement hearing.

Chhabria previously denied two other proposed settlements, citing concerns of a coupon program offered to class members that would “direct still more customers to the monopolist.” The latest deal doesn’t include ...
