Gold Medal Swimmers Reach Antitrust Deal With World Aquatics

Olympic gold medalist Tom Shields and other top-tier swimmers have reached an undisclosed deal with World Aquatics to settle claims the organization monopolized international swimming competitions.

The swimmers are now working to finalize the agreement terms, according to a joint case management statement filed last week in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.

The deal would end claims first brought by the swimmers in 2018 alleging World Aquatics, formerly Fédération Internationale de Natation, unlawfully prevented outside organizations from expanding opportunities for hundreds of world-class swimmers.
