The Fourth Circuit reversed an antitrust conviction against a former engineering firm executive accused of rigging bids for projects, but affirmed criminal convictions against him.
In a Friday opinion, the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit said the district court ought to have tossed the antitrust indictment against Brent Brewbaker, a former executive of Contech Engineered Solutions LLC, who was indicted in 2020 by a grand jury for conspiring to suppress and eliminate competition by rigging bids for more than 300 aluminum structure projects.
