Fisheries Call Salmon Price-Fixing Claims Too Vague to Proceed

Top salmon fisheries fired back at claims in Miami federal court that the mostly Norwegian companies rigged the market for farm-raised Atlantic salmon by manipulating its daily “spot” price in Oslo.

The antitrust lawsuit relies on “vague allegations of unspecified conduct by unspecified defendants at unspecified times, which are insufficient as a matter of law to state a claim,” the fisheries say in court papers filed Monday.

The suit targets Norwegian seafood giants Mowi ASA, Grieg Seafood ASA, Bremnes Seashore AS, SalMar ASA, Leroy Seafood Group ASA, and their U.S. and Canadian affiliates. It also names Scottish Sea Farms ...
