A trade group representing independent booksellers is continuing its fight to intervene in the Federal Trade Commission’s landmark antitrust suit against Amazon.
The American Booksellers Association late Friday filed a notice to the Ninth Circuit appealing a court order denying its motion to become a party in the case. The FTC and Amazon opposed the motion, with the FTC arguing that the group’s claims would essentially create a whole new suit.
Judge John Chun of the US District Court for the Western District of Washington on June 3 denied the ABA’s motion without offering an explanation.
