A Florida woman was sentenced Sept. 20 to more than 30 years in prison following her conviction for operating a $113 million Ponzi scheme that lured investors with promises of high-interest returns on loans to purchase used-vehicle retail installment contracts, federal prosecutors announced in a written statement (United States v. Cladek).
In addition to the 364-month prison term, Judge Timothy J. Corrigan ordered Lydia I. Cladek to pay more than $34 million in restitution, the statement said.
