VP of Health-Care Company Guilty in $1 Billion Fraud Conspiracy

Gregory Schreck pleaded guilty to operating an internet-based platform that generated false doctors’ orders to defraud Medicare and other federal health-care benefit programs of more than $1 billion, the Justice Department announced Thursday.

According to the DOJ, Schreck admitted to targeting hundreds of thousands of Medicare beneficiaries to provide their personal information and agree to receive unnecessary orthotic braces, pain creams, and other items through misleading mailers, TV ads, and calls from offshore call centers.
