A Port Richey, Fla.-based automotive management company will pay $9 million to resolve alleged violations of the False Claims Act, according to the Justice Department on Wednesday.
Victory Automotive Group Inc. allegedly knowingly submitted false information to receive Paycheck Protection Program loan forgiveness. VAG allegedly certified that it was a small business with less than 500 employees to receive a PPP loan, said DOJ.
The company actually employed more than 3,000 people, the DOJ said. Because of this, VAG was ineligible for the $6.28 million PPP loan it received, which was later forgiven in full, said the agency.
