US District Court to Decide on Maduro’s Ally Diplomatic Status

A US court of appeals concluded that the Southern Florida District Court should decide whether Alex Saab, a close ally of Venezuela’s president Nicolas Maduro facing money laundering charges in Florida, is a foreign diplomat immune from prosecution.

  • The Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta, GA, said that, since Saab is no longer a fugitive, the Florida District Court should decide in the first instance on his diplomatic status
