US Bans Professional Service Work for Russian Entities, Citizens

US companies performing professional services will be banned from working in Russia starting Tuesday, with a 30-day wind-down period, under Treasury Department sanctions.

Companies signing contracts with the US government have to adhere to Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements related to their sanctions-related obligations and the work performed by their subcontractors. There are civil and criminal penalties that come with violating the ban.

A significant part of the US response to the invasion of Ukraine has been in restricting the scope of what conduct with Russia, its citizens, and Russian business interests is permissible.
