Trump’s Gun Comments Spark Unease Among Some Core Supporters

President Donald Trump has long banked on support from gun rights advocates, once calling himself the “best friend gun owners have ever had in the White House,” but his recent remarks following the killing of two protesters in Minnesota are making some allies uncomfortable.

“I don’t like the fact that he was carrying a gun,” Trump said Tuesday in reference to Alex Pretti, the intensive care unit nurse killed by ICE agents while protesting their operations in Minneapolis.
