Trump to Ask Congress for DC-Specific Crime Bill, Funding

President Donald Trump said he would ask Congress to approve a crime bill that would allow him greater authority over Washington, DC’s police department as well as new spending to fund beautification projects, days after announcing he was taking control of law enforcement in the capital.

“We’re going to be going to Congress for a relatively small amount of money,” Trump said during an event at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday, adding that he expected his Republican allies to approve the spending.
