Trump Says He Pardoned Ex-Clerk in Prison for Election Crimes

President Donald Trump said he was pardoning Tina Peters, a former Colorado county clerk who was imprisoned after being found guilty of tampering with voting machines.

The effect of Trump’s clemency, however, is unclear. Peters was found guilty on state charges and is in a Colorado prison serving a nine-year sentence.

A jury last year found that Peters, a champion of of Trump’s false claims that he won the 2020 election, had used a security badge that allowed a man posing as a Mesa County employee to gain access to the county voting system. Her lawyers argued that she had ...
