Trump Pardons Ex-Honduras Leader Convicted of Drug Trafficking

President Donald Trump delivered on his promise to pardon former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, freeing the onetime leader from US prison where he was serving a 45-year sentence for drug trafficking.

The former Honduran president’s wife said that her husband had become a “free man” and thanked Trump “for restoring our hope and for recognizing a truth that we always knew,” in a post to X on Tuesday. Hernandez’s pardon was confirmed by a White House official, who asked not to be identified discussing information that hadn’t been released publicly.
