Trump and His Rape Accuser Agree on One Trial for Separate Suits

Former President Donald Trump and a New York woman who accused him of rape agreed her separate claims of defamation and battery should be combined in a single trial next month.

E. Jean Carroll sued Trump for defamation in 2020 when he made disparaging comments in response to her claim that he raped her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s. She followed up with a suit for battery on Nov. 24, under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which allows victims to sue over alleged sexual abuse decades after it happened.
