Three Rio Grande Valley, Texas, sisters have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to aid and assist in the preparation of filing fraudulent tax returns to the IRS, the Justice Department said
in a press statement on Thursday.
Maria Lourdes Campos, owner and operator of Campos Tax Service, with the assistance of her sisters, Elizabeth and Gloria Romo, fraudulently claimed residential energy and childcare credits as well as business expenses on clients’ tax returns. The CTS employees did this to earn larger tax refunds, claims the DOJ.
