Texas Measure Outlawing Police Use of Chokeholds Signed Into Law

Texas police officers will be barred from using chokeholds during an arrest, under a bill signed Monday by Gov. Greg Abbott (R).

“It’s unfortunate that it took the murder of George Floyd and the civil unrest that followed, for the Texas Legislature to finally pass bills to curb police brutality and misconduct,” said state Sen. Borris Miles (D), the bill’s author.
