A Texas man has been indicted on 15 counts for making a false claim and filing false tax returns that were based on fictitious income and withholdings, according to the Justice Department Friday.
In 2020, David Gauna allegedly fraudulently filed his income tax return for estates and trusts, claiming he was owed a refund of $3.3 million. He also allegedly fraudulently assisted in filing other forms, requesting $4.9 million, said the DOJ.
If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison.
