Texas Hotel Guest Loses Right to Privacy in Room Upon Eviction

Texas won its bid to overturn a criminal defendant’s motion to suppress evidence based on allegations that the evidence stemmed from an illegal entry by police into his hotel room after other patrons complained of noise coming from his room, a state appeals court said Thursday.

Robert Brandon Minatra won a motion to suppress evidence in a lower court on a charge of interference with a public servant. He argued that two police officers violated his Fourth Amendment rights and therefore their testimony and bodycam evidence should be suppressed, the Texas Court of Appeals, Third District said.
