Supreme Court Takes Up Questions About Use of GPS Tracking Devices

The U.S. Supreme Court June 27 granted the solicitor general’s request to address Fourth Amendment issues related to law enforcement officers’ use of Global Positioning System devices to track suspects. The court will look at whether the installation of a GPS device on an automobile or its use to conduct surveillance of the vehicle’s movements requires a search warrant. (United States v. Jones)
