State Department Employee Arrested for Selling Information

State Department employee Michael Charles Schena was arrested on criminal charges related to his alleged participation in a criminal conspiracy to gather, transmit, or lose national defense information, the Justice Department announced Friday.

According to the DOJ, Schena, who held a “Top Secret” security clearance, allegedly communicated with individuals online and provided them with classified information in exchange for payments. He also allegedly used a cellphone to take images of multiple “SECRET” documents displayed on his classified computer at the State Department headquarters.
