A Snapchat user who unknowingly shared incriminating video footage with an undercover police officer lost his bid to overturn a gun conviction based partly on the social media post, when Massachusetts’ top court ruled Monday that he couldn’t have reasonably expected it to remain private.
The state’s Supreme Judicial Court upheld the conviction of Averyk Carrasquillo, who pleaded guilty to firearm-related charges after he was arrested with the same revolver and the same clothes as an unidentified man in a Snapchat video viewed by police.
